DOS Nostalgia Podcast #25: More Awesome DOS Game Tunes
I agree with Harlan’s assessment that IHNMAIMS is hardly his best story. “Life Hutch” and “Daniel White, For The Greater Good” are far superior.
Oh my gosh I remember this game. One of my DOS favorites
"Wolfenstein is absolutely demented" - the guy who wrote I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream
HARLAN COME BACK, PLEASE COME BACK!
He sounds just like AM!!! 🤯
In Color Sound Blaster pro Grantray Lawrence Animation Creative Lab productions Inc MCMLXVil
What an insufferable prick.
I read 4 or 5 books a week and do not play video games and Ellison did shock me as a teenager and I have read it all since
2:56
1992.7 eventually
1997.
Harlan would have loved Spec ops: the line... or hated it, I dunno. I'm not a mind brain guy
Affordable, compared to other professional offerings on the market. This + the official IPAS (plugins) disks from Yost Group and you were pretty much set. No surprise it was everywhere from 1990-1996, legitimately purchased or otherwise.
OMG 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
He would've adored dark souls. A game where the narrative the base story wants you to believe is a narrative Gwyn made to get humans to act against their best interests. Where the best ending is letting the world die and everyone in it for the sake of the implied next cycle. Or not. His preconceived notion would probably blind him.

😊😊😊😊
Thank you for this interview so much!
fascinating man he is
Nostalgia!
I’m watching how many mouse cursors are floating around the screen in all of these 1992 games and I’m trying to figure out where all of these “the mouse was rare when Doom came out” / “Doom was designed to be played without a mouse” memes came from.
Well, “Doom was designed to be played without a mouse” argument can be demolished instantly by anyone who actually looks inside the original Doom manual. On page 9 it says "When you're comfortable playing the game, try using the keyboard and the mouse simultaneously. The mouse provides fine control for aiming your weapon (allowing you to smoothly rotate right and left) while the keyboard permits you to activate the many useful functions of the game."
I still play Tetris Classic on my retro Tandys. I love it.
Crusader - one love!
Ween? kinda reminds me of the game I.M. Meen lmao
This was my youth man geez. Would play games till my head ached.
Those are some of the most embarassing games i`ve seen in a long time. Like they belong to some obscure console.
ugh i cringe hard
Shot in the dark, does anyone have the MIDI for this? I've scoured the internets, but no joy.
Fun facts : the Sound Blaster Pro 2.0 chip aka Yamaha YMF262 actually can output quadraphonic audio and yes my sound blaster did that with the price of some smoke coming out from it
Finished Children of Dune while listening to this. I played the game when I was a child, always loved the music. Thank you :)
Great episode boys
Getting a game like this back then was like a Prize. Something to enjoy and treasure. Now games are like trashware.
There was plenty of trash in 1995 as well, I assure you. I just didn't show it in this video.
I don't think he wants to talk about Gorrister but idk tho
This music, just like everything else about this strange and unplaceable game, will live forever in my head and resurfaces from time to time for no reason 🥲 Thank you
brother was yapping so much every question was answered with a deep breath the editior was fighting him lol
COOL ! 💪🏿
Need new one
15 years ago, LMAO, even the nostaliga videos are old at this point, f me
Trust me, I'm feeling it too.
Best retro games was made 1994 to 1999
I would expand that range from 1988 to 2000.
Holy shit, D/Generation., I wasn't sure anybody else even remembered that game existed.
I remember playing this as a kid but I hated it, I was like 5-8 and still am a terrible speller. So I could never get very far lol
Why does he talk like Bianca Del Rio
Harlan Ellison is definitely a writer that grounds his audience even with his views on the world we live in
чего не ожидал услышать в ролике про Диззи, так это музыку из ПОРНОРЭПА в начале))
such an exquisite selection... perfect for playin some good old gems while chilling out
I had all the Apogee games. This being a childhood favorite.
Video games?

Do yall think he would have loved bioshock?
Hearing this for the first time since i was a child had about the same effect on me that a carefully intoned sequence of random words might have on your average sleeper agent.
Imagine how netflix would messed with the book if they adapted it
It's 13 pages long. It's a short story, not a book.
@@dosnostalgic wouldn't stop netflix
